Jacalyn Tatro

"Dance offers a genuine artistic expression to be received by all. I hope to contribute and share my artistry with the vulnerability and passion I have for the stories we create through movement. This, I believe, can create a more empathetic and connected world."

A native of Naperville, Illinois, Jacalyn Tatro just completed her second year of training at the Juilliard School where she learns from legendary faculty and talented peers. Throughout the years, she has augmented her local training by attending events like the Hubbard Street Summer Dance Intensive, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Intensive, Francisco Gella’s Ballet+, NYCDA Winter Intensive, The Dance Sessions, and River North Dance Intensives. She’s had the privilege of working personally with choreographers such as Jamar Roberts, Marcus Jarrell Willis, Alexandra Damiani, Robyn Mineko Williams, Francesca Harper, Terese Capucilli, Sonya Tayeh, Scott Jovovich, Linda Kent, Lauren Adams, Jennifer Hamilton and others, allowing her to perform many different styles of movement. She has enjoyed studying the contemporary rep of Crystal Pite, Ohad Naharin, Nacho Duato, William Forsythe, Hofesh Shechter, and Frank Chaves, and broadway rep from musicals such as Fosse, Hamilton, Cats, West Side Story, and A Chorus Line. Jacalyn has had the exceptional opportunity to take part in benefit performances at the Joyce Theatre and the Skirball Center, and has toured with the NYCDA dance convention as a staff assistant. The summer before her college training began, she was honored to receive the Dance Magazine College Scholarship Award and to perform “My Darling”, choreographed by Hanna Brictson, in Chicago’s 27th annual benefit performance, Dance for Life.
